To be fair to the author the map came with an extensive chronological timeline attached with description of events happening on certain dates & sources (he marks unreliable sources as well. Book is just a compilation of sources on Alans from Roman Greek, Byzantine, Persian, Armenian, Mongol, Chinese, Jewish, Syriac & Khazar & Arab sources etc), roughly 600 references to Alans from 200 sources. I only uploaded the map & the dates make sense when you read timeline. Sorry my fault not author. For example the 401/410 date in Italy are Alans in Alaric's army who defected to Romans in 414Ad at siege of Vasatae so the line they follow is Alaric's route.
