At Bk. 5.45.1, Zosimus refers to five tagmata totalling 6000 men (Ridley translates these as 'legions'); at Bk. 6.8.2, he refers to six tagmata totalling 4000 men (Ridley translates these as 'cohorts'). Thus, according to him, a tagma could number 1200 or approximately 660 men.
