Quote:Dacian use of ring-pommel swords is interesting, since these seem to have originated on the steppes, and come west of the Crimea with Sarmatian tribes such as the Iazyges and Rox-alani......
Back on the topic of the ring swords, how to the Sarmatian swords compare in form with the Dacian ones?
The ones found in Transylvania have a similar form to contemporary Celtic swords. For this reason, they are suspected to be either imported from Celtic neighbours or locally made based on or influenced by Celtic swords of the time.
Some of the armour types found at Dacian sites, though is suspected to have been imported from Sarmatian neighbours or copied from Sarmatian armour types.
