Let's choose a date.
The Greek Government wanted October 29-30th. That was for tourism reasons. For us, that would be harder, I think--my group hhas about 50% university stuidents,a nd they'd be in school.
In fact, other evidence (the Barley Harvest theory) argues for the August date. In addition,t hat's the height of Greek summer--brutally hot, which is fine in a chiton, to me, and everything will be cheaper... Anyway, I propose either August 13-14 or September 10-11 of 2011. Show of hands?

Quote:Date of the battle
Herodotus mentions for several events a date in the lunisolar calendar, of which each Greek city-state used a variant. Astronomical computation allows us to derive an absolute date in the proleptic Julian calendar which is much used by historians as the chronological frame. Philipp August Böckh in 1855 concluded that the battle took place on September 12, 490 BC in the Julian calendar, and this is the conventionally accepted date.[49] However, this depends on when exactly the Spartans held their festival and it is possible that the Spartan calendar was one month ahead of that of Athens. In that case the battle took place on August 12, 490 BC.[49]
