The two Italic 'A's featured by Robinson are both embossed into this form, as is a helmet which Connolly illustrated in 'The Roman Army'. As far as I know the brow plate Robinson features under Officer's Helmets is unique and there are no clues to the form of the helmet itself. Looking at it, it also occurs to me that it may not even come from a helmet, as it is not hard to think of other roles for this obviously decorative piece of metal, although the shape and decoration do make the helmet a tempting possibility.<br>
