It was Marsden the first one in placing the 'lunate fitting' in vertical position.:wink: The reason was the same: To deny beforehand that Ps-Heron's Cheiroballistra could be a hand-held weapon with thin springs :roll:
BTW: I've become the proud owner of tthe 1918 edition of Schramm's 'Die antiken Geschütze der Saalburg' with the colour lithographic diagrams. They look far better than on the 1980 reprint! 8)
