Very, very cool! I really like it! Are you gonna use a standart for it?
Sorry for my english, but whats the meaning of gonna ? It's possible that I use a standart, but the weight is just of six kilograms. I Think that I will use a furca like for the arquebuse of the Renaissance period.
Ow, sorry, that's just odd speaking language I gues, in proper:
Are you going to use a standart for it?
Yes I am going to use a standart like for my chirobaliste reconstitution.

Well done Emmanuel!
Your woodworking skills are excellent, Emmanuel.

May I ask where you are taking your dimensions from?
The dioptra (Vitruvius' intervallum ubi sagitta collocatur, "aperture where the arrow is placed") looks much bigger than the Xanten example.

I look forward to following your progress! Smile
Exact, I have used the same chelonium than the cheiroballistra (I have three of her...) So I must make a little difference on this part for the dioptra, as you said. For all the mesures, I take some photographies of the original and I have tryed to make the exacts mesures. For the modioli, I use also the same of the cheiroballistra but the thing which is very interessant is that they have exactly the same mesures of the precedents modioli, on the hole of the foramen (3, 5 cm) but not the same form. The other thing which is very interressant is that the mesures of the manubalista obey at a system of proportions like the one of Vitruvius All is a multipl of 3,5 cm... As exemple, The capitulum is 21 cm by 21 cm = 3,5 x 6 The peritretum is just one foramen...

Congratulations! Very nice and close to the original!!!

What diameter have used for the inner of the modioli?

I think could be interesting to use it with a complete tripod. I think it can be of a very impressive acuracy.
The inner hole of the modioli is of 3,5 cm, like on the original
Quote:Exact ...
The aperture on the Xanten catapult seems to be much smaller. :?
But I guess you've measured it.
