I've been considering making a leather subarmalis for my hamata for a while. I already have a padded linen one, but my hamata is a tight fit and its diffucult to put both on at the same time! I figure a leather garment will be easier to drop a hamata over. Also ... if I take off the sleeves, I can get in some pteruges! Since I am tired of being mistaken for a Viking (I'm a Late Roman) this Roman-defining part of the garment will serve a great purpose.
But still unsure.
