Wow - amazing event. Congratulations to all those who took part. I feel annoyed at myself for not going (the location is only about 70km from where I live). I'll make sure to go next year, if it's on.

Matt's wearing a lovely replica of the Fernpass helmet, much admired by his opponent as he stabs him to death

It was a good day. 8)

Pig sick...I was there 3 hours and stunned by how amazing it was.

I've been in Britannia for about 15 years (and not had much of a chance due to some terrible difficulties in my lifestyle in the last few years), but I drove from Cambria with my son (his first event...) he wasn't well and we had to go.

Amazing to see so many people under arms. Never mind Hastings...let's have a Badon Hill. Yes I know it's not been found and all that, but we don't have to call it that do we now...?

Or a Campus Mauriacus/Catalaunian Fields actually!

Audax, I saw you at Old Sarum but yet I had no chance to meet you properly. Next time we will correct this! 8)

Hi Benjamin,
Great pictures!

I think Liddington Castle hillfort would be a GREAT place for that. I like this one better than other candidates.. Big Grin

Oooh, but that'd need to be really big.
At least twice as big as this years, preferably with a large body of cavalry.

You'd need a couple of years at least to sort something like that out.

Watch this space. 8)

Liddington's not practicle as a re-enactment site.
No car parking for a start, and it's on a public right of way so you couldn't control access.

Badbury Rings would be better. The National Trust are already set up to hold events there.

I may or may not have been giving some thought to this recently.

No parking, that's a problem indeed. But Liddington itself isn't on a PRoW, is it? the path passes the fort 200m to the east?
Barbury (my next candidate) is, unfortunately, on a PRoW. Cry

Badbury Rings is not a hillfort (if you can call it a hill at all), it's call to fame only because of the name (and we could discuss Bad- names until we see blue in the face and still not come to any conclusion). It's a nice spot, granted.

Ummm...Badbury's at the top of a hill that rises between the Stour and the Allen. It's got a fort on it. Good enough for me.

I take it that if there were to be a 'Mons Badonicus' at Badbury at some point in the future, you wouldn't want to come then?

There's a buried Roman road that passes and can be seen from Badbury rings appreanetly, a wide one at that!!!
