Very nice, as always, Graham. The smoke rising up from fires and demonstrating the prevailing wind reminds me a little of Alan Sorrell's work.

It has come to my attention that scans of all of my Plates from the Byzantine Court Dress publication "By The Emperor's Hand" written by Timothy Dawson have been posted on Facebook by a member of this Forum!
While I certainly appreciate the advertising, it would have been fair to post a small sample, with a link to the publishers or my website. There are people who may buy the publication simply to view the Plates so to post all of them online in reasonable quality will not help my Royalties. These scans have inevitably been copied elsewhere and can be viewed on at least one other site. It also appears that the text too is available online. People may not be aware but an author or an illustrator of factual history publications does not earn anything like the author of Harry Potter. If readers of these books wish to see them continue then they should think of that before posting the material online. This is a form of publishing itself and is also covered by copyright law. I’ve just come across this thread and there are some fantastic pictures here! I love seeing people’s artistic interpretations of the ancient world.
Would anyone mind if I posted some of my own works on here? These are some drawings I did a few years ago of some of the famous figures from Rome’s early history and the Republic. I found them again whilst going through some old files recently.

Here are some of my illustrations for the 'Hollywood Romans' series in 'Ancient Warfare' magazine.
The series details the evidence, or lack, of behind the Roman military costumes in the epic movies beginning with Caesar and Cleopatra in 1945 and carrying on until the present day. What were the costumes based on? Were all Hollywood Romans red? Which actor hated wearing 'skirts'? In what film did the extras eat the props? The answers to all these and more can be found in the series, which now has a new home in 'Ancient History' magazine. Some of the paintings are based on well known actors and these photos taken at WalesComicCon recently show some of the upcoming images. One painting of James Cosmo is actually not finished but the film it is from will not feature for a few issues yet. However can you guess what films or TV shows these three costumes were used in? Okay, strictly speaking he is Etruscan. But close enough, right?
