My new Late Roman helmet
#16
Indeed a wonderful job! And I second Virilis that it looks even better when you're wearing it. Well done.

Ah, now we're talking. Looking even better.

I had worries about the nasal, but that's just looking great.

The problem with the neck guard immediately shows itself: the 'top half' should be a bit larger (and wider), the 'bottom half' is indeed a bit too long, and the angle should be smaller, so that it fits your neck better.

I think the helmet sits just a bit too high on your head?

Thanks, Robert! You Da Man for this Late Stuff. (Or at least one of Da Men!)

Okay, I can fix some of that, though I probably won't go so far as to replace it entirely.

It's possible. I kept eyeballing the proportions as I worked on the bowl, wondering if I should trim a little off the bottom before adding the browband. But I didn't, so it may be a little tallish overall. Plus it does seem to be sitting just a little high over my eyes, but just fiddling with the lining will fix that. Of course, then the cheekpieces will end up a tad long! Well, perfect army issue fit, eh?

Much obliged!

No, the overall shape is correct, I meant indeed 'a little high over the eyes'. If you can take an inch off the lining, the cheekpieces should still be good.
