Was watching "Waking the Dead " on BBC 1 last night . A Roman Map was produced which had a "danger of ambush " area marked with a spider, which was explained as a Roman army sign for danger.
Anyone heard of this ?

Roman road map? With details smaller than towns? Never heard of it. Sounds much like a modernism.

I saw it too.......good detective programme, but as regards the "Roman" details, complete and utter :roll: :roll: .......!

Ahh the joys of modern media. You can't even believe half the stuff in programs that are "historically" accurate documentaries, either, apparently. :?

I thought it was a load of nonsense, and it appears I was right. It would be a daft symbol for 'danger' anyway. What were the Romans supposed to be expecting to find? Shelob? :lol:
