Remember: 8 playable factions for now. Who knows what expansions will be available for this game? I for one would love to see some Medieval 2 style mini campaigns, such as the insurrection in Judea, Caesar's conquest of Gaul, Trajan's subjugation of Dacia, Tiberius's Germanic adventures, The Boudicca Revolt, and Marcus Agrippa's underreported campaign in Hispania. Really, the list could go on and on, and would be fantastic to play as even the "barbarian" factions.
Quote:The latest screenshots look great, though some helmet types there seem to be over represented (and at the same time, the Montefortino type is rather under represented):

.

Mid-republican style officers parading next to the Pantheon of Agrippa, with the look it took around the II century CE? And next to it an amphitheater (the Colosseum?). Historycally accurate? Sad

Yeah, it's pretty painful. It might well be a staged mockup for PR purposes rather than an ingame event, but it is rather grating in its presentation. Note that the swords do not have scabbards (or any visible means of attachment), which presumably means ingame models lack them in general, which is rather sad.

Edit: I do however appreciate the fact they are not marching in step, which would be anachronistic for any Roman period.
I wonder how you can be so sure about that point! Wink

Sorry the link doesn't seem to be taking me top the same place.
Just a conversation about the new game and mods......???
Well, let's hope the playability of the game, and the things offered during the gameplay make any historical or equipment shortcomings of lesser importance. And pretty much anything we see before the release of the game is subject to change and editing. Let's not order the executioner to get ready just yet.

There are two screenshots that should be showing up.

i just couldn't agree more. there's still (unfortunately or not) a long road ahead until the release date Smile (which wasnt even revealed yet)
Well provided they make the game moddable I'm fine with it. I'm looking forward to R2TW: Barbarian Invasion II
Carthage, the 2nd faction, has been revealed today with two pictures in HD-quality:

and here's a preview for the horses in the game and some Celtic armor:

That picture of what I think is the Carthaginian Sacred Band looked pretty impressive. I'm really starting to look forward to this game now.
cool
their models for Greek and Samnite armor looks pretty good, too:

Burzum

Quote:Sigh. And to think. I used to think Age of Kings was as far as it could go.

I would love to see a reconstruction of both AOE titles.

Aoe III was a huge failure.
So, after the Romans, the Carthaginians and the Makedons, there's a forth faction: the Iceni

Bit underwhelmed to be honest. The Iceni aren't nearly as significant an enemy or even a people as the other factions. They're not even particularly pre-eminent within Britain. If they had to include a British tribe, it should probably have been the Catevellauni or the Brigantes imo.
