Is it historically accurate at all or not?
Caligula was dead on accurate on three things:
There was an Emperor named Tiberius.
There was an Emperor nicknamed Caligula.
There was a Roman Empire.
Beyond that I dont think there was much else. I saw it while I was an undergrad at the disreputable cult film place just off campus. You might get a cleaned-up version from some underground film specialist, or try your local porn store. However, as my History professor remarked, it was not even good porn.

Thanks for the reply.
I thought as much. I should have been weary about Hollywood no matter when a film was made.

Yeah -- but it's got Helen Mirren in it, so it's not all bad.

Indeed!
It also has Peter O'Toole and Sir John Gielgud who thought they were in another film altogether...
Oh...Mods -- you should probably move this to Reviews or Off Topic.
