Auxilary Cornicen
#1
Photo
Hello,
I am brand new to Roman re-enactment but keen to get a outfit under way. I was thinking of portraying a Cornicen or Auxiliary Cornicen from around 50 AD to 150AD (as I'm in a historical reenactment group that portrays many different eras and making noise in parades and carnivals is always a great idea!)

Can anyone point me in the direction of literature or authentic images to use as references? ( i have found some small images on the web of Trajans column)

And which animal skin is suitable? must it be Bear or Lion? (might be a bit hard to come by!) or is Wolf or Boar acceptable.

Any info or hints where to start looking would be much appreciated.
