Around the 6th-7th century I think... Frankish.

I have tried and failed .... its the one with the bulbous top which is made up from numerous lamels insted of segments.

I believe it was shown in the Late Roman Soldier Osprey Warrior title.

The helmet was found in Germany, at Niederstotzingen, Grave 12.
My Osprey Germanic Warrior book says it's an Allamanic 6th century helmet... but osprey books can fail too. :roll:

Since it was found in an Alamannic grave, I suppose that would account for the Osprey quote. But the technique of lamellar helmets was not Alamannic. I'll look it up, it is shown in several of my books.

The brow piece has Longobard parallels, a famous one known as the Agilulf piece. The guuards on both sides of the king also wear this helmet!
