Cambridge Passion

Yes, I have often wondered what the costumes were based on. This year I got the oportunity to ask one of the pharasees (not easy as the play rolls on, moving around the city centre without a break and so there is no 'time out' until you have finished your part. As the pharasees both start and finish before we do we do not usually get to chat) but he said that he had only been participating in the event for three years and did not know. I'll have to ask Louisa the organiser next time (if she can find a spare moment that is).

They always remind me of the Time Lords from Dr. Who.

We're planning to include the arrest in Gethsemane; does anyone know how the Temple Guards were equipped?

Maybe like Herod's soldiers?

I recall that Herod's had Celtic-roman guardsmen as well....But for the Passion would be Herod's son right no the one?.... Perhaps those guards stayed with him as well?....

Philip said that the Athenians were like the bust of Hermes: all mouth and dick.

I think we're dealing with the son of the baby-bashing Herod, who was also called Herod. Herod Antippas, I believe. Someone correct me if I'm wrong. In any case, I'm interested in Temple Guards, who may have been equipped like the King's, but may also have some kind of traditional equipment, associated with their office.

Quote:This is just a possibility at the moment, but...Anyone interested in being a Roman at next year's Cambridge Passion Play, sign up here. I suspect that, if you come from abroad, the organisers will arrange food and board for you. A potential opportunity to visit our historic city and do some re-enacting along the Via. This will be a first for Cambridge, in modern times.

I wonder if any one followed up on this ?
