Par Fabrica Caligae (Photos)
#1
I previously posted the following topic under the Deepeeka sub-forum: AH3872 Caligae (Photos). Here is the direct link: http://www.romanarmy.com/rat/viewtopic. ... ht=#117288

Anyway, when I was searching to purchase caligae I couldn't find good assessments and photos so I thought I would post them. Unfortunately, the AH3872 caligae simply didn't fit. It was at that point I decided to go with the recommendations of others on this forum and purchase caligae from Par Fabrica: http://www.parfabrica.com/califab.htm

Below are some photos so those who are in the market can see what you'll be getting. Let me also offer some comments. They do not look machine made like the AH3872. These are definitely hand made. I think the quality is very good. They appear to be rugged and durable.

I was skeptical of Paul Royce's statement that he wears them all over the place for hiking. Not anymore! I've already been using them, that's why there are abrasions on the soles. The fit is superb! I cannot emphasize this enough. I was shocked to discover that they fit so good and are so comfortable that they compare to a pair of tennis shoes. The fit is due to the fact that the buyer must extend the slits following directions that Paul Royce sends. This is one of the reasons I was hesitant to purchase them. I'm not particularly handy. But even I was able to follow the instructions.

My conclusion is that these are really nice, hand-crafted caligae that fit great. I wouldn't hesitate to buy another pair in the future.
