Eion
#1
Eion, the port of ancient Amphipolis, was occupied by Persians from c.513 to 475. That is quite a lot of time, and one would expect archaeological remains. Does anyone know anything about them? Has the site itself (Thracian, Persian, or Greek period) been identified?

The site has been identified. Friends of mine have been there (one works on it quite closely) so I only know of what remains are visible through hear-say. Apparently there's nothing earlier than the Byzantine period visible above ground, but I don't think that any excavations have been undertaken, so almost anything to could be underground!
