Today i was at the Elf Fantasy Fair (a big fantasy market with lots of outside activities) and i couldn't control myself not to make a few pics from the people of Reconstruccion historica!
Only talked shortly because of an impending march through the market, but really nice guys! They even wrote their email adres on leather for me instead of paper.

Well, the roman army won in the second battle today. In the first battle they were attacked from all sides and pulverized behind their big shields. In the second battle they flanked the carthaginians from the left and right and attacked them in the back!
Information for people unknown with the Elf Fantasy Fair: Each year, the organization takes a theme...this time, it was the roman history. And each year, they organize two groups for a great battle at the end of the day. This year, it was the romans vs carthaginians.

So how did Hannibal's lot look?
And was the audience really taking part? I heard they could train to take part, using all kinds of plastic armour and shields.. Wasn't there supposed to be a kid's battle?

I've read it and you are indeed correct.
And they seem to have quite some funds.
Anyone of them on RAT perhaps.
Cheers,

Well, I think I've found some pictures of the event:
Behold, the Barbarian Horde!

The legions of Scipio?

Hmmm...somebody took a good look at "Troy"...

A little bit too late...
Yes, the Late Republican Romans are from the Spanish Legio IV Macedonica, commanded by Ricardo Cagigal 8)

It\'s all an accident, an accident of hands. Mine, others, all without mind, from one extreme to another, but neither works nor will ever.

Yes...those are the ones, alright!

Hehehe, they were battered mightily....but they took it quite manly (cursing at the opponent afterwards, some attacking the romans again after the battle and all that, sneaky but fun to watch)!
The audience did take part, but only if you would pay quite a handsomly prize (you did get your equipment with the prize and your "training") but still, it was more like a kids battle (free for all...waaahhh, battle orders...huh, whats that?) than a real battle. In contrary, the reenacment groups did their part very well.
Also a pity i didn't take any pictures of the gladiator fights....they were a pleasure to look at.
Edit: a friend of mine was so kind to give this adres for more pictures of the romans and a few gladiator pics next to the "normal" fantasy fair pictures. If you like the pictures, please let him (Harry Breugom) know!! He will like that a lot!!
