Greetings,
I came across this old thread....I was rather interested in the 'Persian cavalry'...looking like a hybrid Greek - Scythian wearing a plumed Attic type helm...

The enemy is less likely to get wind of an advance of cavalry, if the orders for march were passed from mouth to mouth rather than announced by voice of herald, or public notice. Xenophon

You mean this dude?

That's from John Warry's book, Classical warfare, and is supposed to be a member of Cyrus the Younger's bodyguard. He's supposed to be displaying a Median cavalriman with Greek influences, and of a type that would later develop in the cataphract.

As in the Cyrus of Xenophon fame?
Visne partem mei capere? Comminus agamus! * Me semper rogo, Quid faceret Iulius Caesar? * Confidence is a good thing! Overconfidence is too much of a good thing.
