I've been using a site called www.librarything.com (LibraryThing), which allows you to catalog your books online. The first 200 are free, and then, once you're addicted, it's $10/year or $25/lifetime (no, I'm not making any money off this...). You can categorize any book in any manner you want with a tagging system, plus it's nifty to see all the covers laid out in front of you. As an example, you can see my profile at http://www.librarything.com/profile/dandiffendale and my library at http://www.librarything.com/catalog.php ... diffendale
Just a warning -- it's highly addictive; if you have a lot of books you may find yourself cataloging them well into the night and into the week.
Incidentally, it's the brainchild of Tim Spalding, who's also responsible for such things as www.ancientlibrary.com and Isidore-of-Seville.com (which both seem to be down at the moment, shame that).
