Question: Textile shoes?

Hi all!

Is there any chans that shoes of textile with leather soles has been used during the roman era?

Could in that case be a choise for us poor Auxiliae until we get our comisioned calicei!

I have a pair I made for later periods that I easyely could convert!

put up a picture when I get my camera back!

While it's not impossible there are no finds that I'd know of.

For military I'd say practically zero, more durable stuff would be expected. Why don't you just simply make yourself a pair of carbatinae till your shoes arrive? Of those we at least know that they were around, what they looked like and how they were made. Let me know if you need additional info on those.
