DEL TIN ARMI ANTICHE
#16
I have a Del Tin Pompeii from the early 80s, when MRL swords were mostly Del Tin. It's a hell of a rugged blade and I've sharpened mine like a razor. But I did have it rehilted by Fred Talley in Texas and it now has a properly countersunk brass hilt plate and the grip is from a cow's long foot bone, like the originals. The wood is from Fred's grandfather's 100-year-old barn, so it's well seasoned. Not sure what kind of wood, but knowing Texas, post oak is not out of the question. Now it needs a better scabbard, those old Del Tins scabbards were pretty crude (they may have been made in-house by MRL). If I were to go into battle in the 1st century, I wouldn't hesitate to take this sword along. It's hard to imagine a stronger sword.

The blade is with the rest of the sword - in the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds.

@Caballo - PB, a thing i don't understand, if it is a Pompeii one, was it not suppose to have a "ball" wood upper, don't know the word for the end part above the grip, if Mayenz got "oval" one
Is it this one you offer for trade or sale?

ANW what is your answer about my poor offer  ?

For Scabbard, i tough to put the one issued with the DENIX Mayenz (Find DENIX Scabbard not so bad if look for a Pompeii  ), my insane brain argue that with luck the larger blade of the Mayenz could allowed to put inside the Mayenz one scabbard a Pompeii blade, what do you think of that stupid idea

The beast i actually own
