Hahaha dont worry Ratty, I think a lot of us have bought a Trooper Helmet in good faith.
I have learnt a lot from my learned friends here and now I look forward to purchasing teh correct ones. Discovering the correct points and different helmets has been an experience in itself.
Remember, we have all been there.

How about using it as the basis of a cavalry helmet. You can then emboss the decorative covering on thin brass sheet and place over the bowl. You will need to make new cheek guards (similar fashion - basic shape in iron or brass with decorative embossed brass sheet over it), and attach a small neck guard. Not a project for a novice but certainly something to while away the boring evenings till the season starts proper.

Gioi, you might be able to re-hammer it, I'm not sure...probably a lot of work...unless you cut the existing 2 ridges off, made a new piece with 3 and welded it back on, but now you're getting into a lot more work.
Tough call.

What I'm curious is, if the helmet has its protective neck guard like a hearth shape as the deepeeka trooper does?
PS: But I guess turn the bowl into a late roman helmet its more simple no? Yessssss

Comerus I think it would be easier to make a Late Roman helmet from it. But I would have to handle one to be for sure.

Quote:I'm very sory for you but this helmet is one of the worst helmet on the market!
Oh, I disagree--there are MUCH worse things on the market! This is just the most popular bad one, that's all. And even so, it is VASTLY better than anything Hollywood has ever come up with! But yeah, reenactors generally avoid this helmet like the plague.
It's definitely going to be a pain to convert this to anything useful. (I hadn't thought of trying an Intercissa, but it might be easier to start with a Civil Defense helmet for that.) My advice, give it a good coat of polyurethane (to prevent rust) and donate it to a local church to use in their Christmas and Good Friday shows! They'll love it, and it will beat the plastic ones they already have.
Good luck!
