Gladius in Mosaic
#1
I found this depiction of what I think is a gladius in a hunting scene mosaic in Tunisia - looks like a Hispaniensis on one side, but then again is it? Or is it just a hunting weapon? Thoughts anyone?

If it has a straight back then you may be looking at a late roman knife ??

Thanks Conal,

That would make sense given the context of the mosaic - a hunting scene. Ah well, the pommel and hilt looked very much like a gladius.
