Did you paint the shield by hand Perikles? Well done! Any tips and tricks you'd like to share?

Yes Jasper it is hand painted. The first tip is as less coffee as possible!!!! Big Grin D D D

I traced the design with a soft pencil, It doesn't have to be 100% accurate as any mistakes can be corrected later. Then i used acrylics to paint over with a thin brush, usualy 000 or 0000!!!!! You just have to keep trying mate!!!!

Yes, but it's easier to go to the gallery at the main site.
The figures there are all mine, but you and all other RATers are welcome to send their pics to me (jasper*NOSPAM*@romanarmy.com) for inclusion.

Nicely done Perikli,
Shields like that were caracteristic of the late Hellenistic Kingdoms so it is not so much artistic licence as you think but it could be close to reality.

kind regards
