#1
There are a few small rectangular plates of copper tinned of some (3-2 ' 5cm x 1-1 ' 3cm) of the military Roman strap that they have the same system of subordination that the big plates, in which part of the balteus they were placing?

Probably it is a question of the same plates that your samples, though these that samples seem to be longer. Can you give me the width of the straps of the apron that you show? Can you show images of the original pieces of your reconstruction? Thank you very much.

Here are the drawings of the original plates.

they are stamped copper-alloy inlaid with niello. The larger of the two is from Colchester and the damaged plate is from Harlow.

probable original measurements of 13mm x 70mm

I have observed that the system of subordination of the plates to the strap, they are different in the drawing that in the reconstrucion that your you have realized. Which is the original system of subordination used for the plates found in Colchester and Harlow? Thank you.

There have integral rivets in the back. Some plates are riveted with nails passing trough the plate, and some have integral rivets.

When the rivet pass trough the leather, roman some times folded the point back itself, or uses washers.

Thank you Cesar. The system of subordination with integral rivets and washers, is it later(posterior) or previous in the time to that of nails passing trough the plates? Can they be both systems also contemporary in the time?

I think the sistem of fixation is'nt a cronological indicator.
