Any one have any good pictures of a fourth century quiver? I am hoping to make one of these and would appreciate any assistance you can offer.

For the V century, we have the virgilius romanus, with good pictures for the quiver.
Sorry, nothing for IVe century.

Many thanks.I had seen these and as you say they are 5th century. I do not know where to go for 4th century. But again thanks for looking.

The problem with those, otherwise excellent, Vergilius Romanus illustrations is we don't see them worn, but my guess is that the ties were for slinging onto the waist belt.

Thanks folks.

I was hoping that some of the late roman groups would post pictures of their quivers.I have yet to see any photos which I could usefully use as a guide.

Any help gratefully received

Ah, now I don't think I have any close ups and I don't have any details, but:
Specialist Photography at Arbeia (foreground).

Various quivers - bolt, javelin and arrow.

Rufus at Vindolanda - javelin and arrow quiver with a glance at suspension.

Year's first archery

I'm sure Mithras can dig out some close ups...

I use something like that for my plumbatae, but with a shoulder strap.

Sorry, I don't seem to have any - the more I'm in kit, the fewer photos I take...

Personally, I think attaching to the belt is the most practical method so far, but the experiments continue to approach Vegetius...
