I agree with the identification as a pugio blade. The length certainly fits nicely into the known range of lengths. I might even go out on a limb and say that given the shape of the shoulders of the blade (which seem to be complete) it could be a type 'B' blade. However, I can see what looks a bit like of a midrib at the top end of the blade, along with a couple more bits further down, suggesting a type 'A' blade, although it could just as easily be rust deformation. Like most of the other people who have so far commented (I suspect), I would like to see an x-ray. Hopefully the museum has one. Hopefully they have a good drawing too. I would also like to know the width of the shoulders.
