Montefortino rivets
#1
I was just looking at the Montefortino in the U Penn museum, and noticing the cheek piece attachments. Two rivets on the inside hold up the cheekpiece, but when you look on the outside, the rivet heads seem to be covered over by the tooled band over the roping, which itself seems set flush with the bowl. Very nifty metal work. Is this typical of the Montefortinos?

Can you furnish a picture of this? Is it in Robinson? It might make a good experiment for Deepeeka to try.

while I seem to have misplaced this thread and started another one, shouldn't discussions of actual artifacts and the analysis of them be in the archaeology forum?
