Great Job! I like the slightly p'd off look on his face...almost like he can remember back when he didn't have to carry all his own gear...hahaha!

Beautiful artwork! Big Grin

The soldiers would have probably carried their pila over the shoulder the same as the upright of the furca pole, rather than carry them in the manner you have illustrated. I believe this is how it is depicted on Trajan's Column.

Not to nitpick Adrian, but there would have been times where a legionary had various implements in his hand. Perhaps this guy was carrying someone else's pilum, en route to where his own scutum and pila were resting. Big Grin

His waist seems very wide! Could you give him more of a waist?

My waist looks about the same size when I'm wearing my padded subarmalis Smile

With a tunic, subarmalis and possibly fascia ventralis, this type of 'waist' is normal with hamata. Mine used to do it, and I'm not overweight.

His belts are also hung low on the hips which could add to the lack of waist.

Hello
Thanks to everybody.
The waist line reflects all the above (what’s wear underneath and the belts also).
