"....the costs of Barbary" refer to a fight with Berber pirates.

Can someone please expalin "the halls of Mondezuma" what does it refer to?

Kind regards

The "Halls of Montezuma" refers to the Mexican Capitol building in Mexico City which the Marines helped capture. I am not sure if that was its offical name or just name made for the song.

I should clarify. This capture took place at the end of The Mexican-American War in 1848.

My Uncle Paul is a retired Serg. Major in the USMC...he gave me his helmet and M-14 bayonet from Viet Nam.

My sister's best friend also met and married a Marine.

If I had to join any of the infantry combat arms, it'd be the Marine Corps. If only to see what I was really made of.

Happy Birthday! Semper Fi!

I've seen the construction for that museum going on for years. I live just north of it and it will be a great visit.

I just happened to be on the way to Fredricksburg at noon; the traffic jam on I95 around Quantico was pretty fierce today. More Va State troopers than I've even seen.

Crazy- I have an uncle who is a retired Lt.Col, and my brother-in-law is a retired Captain, both infantry. I guess Marines like Canadians Wink Happy birthday USMC!
