Let's enlist here the numbers of a legion (in the various periods).

For example: how many calfskins or goatskins were needed for leather tents in a legion during a campaign?

5500 legionaries + 5500 auxilia = 11.000 men

11.000 : 8 (contubernia) = 1375 tents

1375 tents x 35 skins (according to Plinius) = 48.125 animals needed for a legion average tents supplying.

And the clerks? and the servants?
