Who says size isn\'t everything?

This is said to be the largest image on the web (8.6 gigapixels). It is a fresco by Ferrari (no not that Ferrari) that occupies the entire wall of an Italian church. I had a detail from it on my screen at four times natural size (there is a handy ruler). Trajan's Column next? If only...

Image processing was with a quadruple Opteron machine with 16Gb of RAM - sort of a render farm in a box! Got one of those, Jim? ;-)

Warning, it has been slashdotted so the initial loading can take a while but once you're in it works quite quickly and the only sound you will hear (other than Mozart's Requiem) is your jaw hitting the ground.

Clunk

(sound of jaw hitting ground).
That is impressive - and incredibly beautiful. Pity the Mozart's on such a short loop, the magnitude of the image required the entire requiem!
