This is the last mail I've got from Matt

I have received the first examples of the new hobnails, but they were not quite correct- I've asked the company to make some adjustments and with any luck they'll have them right soon.


So let's give Matt the time which it needs. As more patient we have as better hobnails we will get 8)

Just got the samples actually and they're not quite right- the height of the 'cone' is too low, but that's what I was told they might be like: bigger diameter and lower. I'd hoped they'd still look good enough, but they don't. Since the blanks are cut from steel plate, if the cone isn't properly-formed, the perimeter is left kind of like a squashed square- roundish, but not really round. I've let the company know, and since it looks like it should be a simple matter of adjusting the position of the die that makes the cone, I'm hoping it'll not be too long before they make some more and that they'll be correct this time.

In regards to this conical hobnail, I am interested in enough to do 2 caligae (a pound?). Maybe the others could re-affirm their orders because it has been a while since your original post.
