English medieval bridges - where, when, why?!
#1
I am looking for local patriots who know a thing or two about their motherland's architectural heritage:

*Where is the Piercebridge? Is it still standing? Any pics?
*What measures does Elvet bridge in Durham have?
*And when was the Twizel bridge in Northumberland erected?
*I guess both are segmental arch bridges, aren't they?
*What is the oldest standing arch bridge, the oldest pointed arch bridge, the oldest segmental arch bridge in Great Britain?
*What is the largest bridge in terms of span length and overall length before the Industrial Revolution in GB?
*Did the Romans built stone bridges in GB?
*For real pros: Were there any suspension bridges in medieval GB?

Answer....Yes! Smile
Visne partem mei capere? Comminus agamus! * Me semper rogo, Quid faceret Iulius Caesar? * Confidence is a good thing! Overconfidence is too much of a good thing.
