Orbiculi or segmentae at the rear?
#1
Had them all late Roman tunics at the rear?
Should I add them at mine?

I mean orbiculi and segmentae. I don't know why, Spelling Cow didn't allow me to write those two latin words in my first post... :?

Hi Ivan,

Yes, all decorations on the front are mirrored exactly at the back.

Well, I can forgive people saving time. I am only sewing mine on front for now (the cloak covers the back anyway.)

BTW, Travis, can we see'em? In fact, the whole tunic would be nice to see as well...

"Yes, all decorations on the front are mirrored exactly at the back."

Robert,

Does that still apply for tunics which have different motifs on the front. I have a picture of a tunic with tabulae from Egypt. Although I cannot see the tabulae on the shoulders clearly, the tabula on the left of the skirts features an eagle and that on the right features a warrior. Would these motifs be repeated on the back or would different images be used?

My guess would be the same image when you'd see the tunic from the back. Do you still have that image?

I would have to get the rather small image in the Christie's catalogue scanned but I will try to post a copy when I get the time.
