?Peskin?
#1
I have a question about ?Peskin? I think its called that. Its the 2 week long event where the SCA gets together in a town/village. I have never been able to go so all I hear is a story here and there. Has anyone gone there? Also would it be a good place to go for a Roman Reenactor?

hi' Ben

i am new to this site and roman reenacting ''

but many many years ago i was vary active in the SCA' yes i was one of those guys that wore full plate mail and wielded a mace and shield  .

i have not bin to Peskin in a long time and i know from people that i still keep in contact with that it is still fun and a good time is had by all who attend.

as for going as Roman Reenactor yes there would be no-problem with that.

but if you wanted to do any fighting you would first be-for you go''
have to go to some SCA events in your area' and get qualified with weapon' and shield.

which is not hard' but be-were' some people will try' to pull you into there' med-evil would. Confusedhock:

here is a link to the main SCA site it will help you learn what you need to know' and should help you out''

http://sca.org/

but the best way to learn any thing is to do so with what i have here below you should be able to find a group near you.

as you are in Ohio' you would fall in what they call the The Midrealm this link will take you to it' http://www.midrealm.org/

The SCA worldwide is divided into large geographic regions called Kingdoms.
The Middle Kingdom consists of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois and a nip of Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North and South Dakota, Manitoba, and a bit of Ontario.

In the Middle Kingdom a list known as the Seneschallorum is kept.
This list contains, among other things, the names and contacts of all of the local branches in the Middle Kingdom.

so in short Ohio and Kentucky are listed here' Oaken

now i do not think that you will find an SCA group that is doing roman but you don't really need to .

you just need to hook up with a good group that you can learn from and if you feel so inclined you can start your own band of Romans.

which i what i will be trying to do my self Big Grin [email protected]">[email protected]

here is one more link for you these guys do Spartans and they are in the SCA and go to Peskin but they are in CA. but look around there site for info'.

hope all this helps you out.
