Roman Saddle/s photos needed
#1
Salve,
I am looking for some quality and rather precise photos of reconstructed Roman Saddles, friend of mine, Polish re-enactor of the Napoleonic era uhlans/lancers - active here http://arsenal.org.pl/forum/szkola-jazdy...0.htm#7880, has written an article about saddles and so called historic manner of siting, and he needs a photo or two of a horned Roman Saddle. The article will be published in Polish monthly ''Koń Polski'' http://www.konpolski.pl/ - a second one in a debate on historic ridding and reenactment etc.
I gave him my own drawing of a Tokharian(?) saddle 0f 3rd century BC discovered in China's Western Turkestan about 8-10 years ago.
Anyone would like to share a photo? ...full credits given but no money be paid for this photo Sad

Interesting pictures...quite like the look of those.

Edited to add:...until I looked at the construction method page!! :?

Very good of him to share that information and the photos are very clear. An excellent saddle for re-enacting purposes perhaps(although I am not a fan of that much wood on any of my horses) but not quite according to the archaeological evidence we have. Matches some of the iconography though, I suppose.

Cracking videos though...riding at the gallop in a wide open space! Serious marks out of 10
Moi Watson

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, Merlot in one hand, Cigar in the other; body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming "WOO HOO, what a ride!
