Spell check : must we now log in ?

I just tried to spell check a post of mine on another thread and I was asked to log in. Is this a permanent change ?

It shouldn't be. From a quick browse on their site, it seems as if they've been 'slashdotted' - mentioned on some überpopular site which takes traffic skyhigh. They probably took measures to prevent server overload.
