Salve omnes,
I know this has come up in the past but I'd like to ask some things about the painting of leather. Mind you I do not talk about dyeing leather.
Is there any evidence that the Romans painted their leather?
Is it possible to paint flexible leather like a baldric or leather edging for a hamata with lineseed oil paint (just powdered pigment mixed with lineseed oil)? Will the paint crack or get damaged quickly on such items?
What do you all think?
