Genetic evidence for Greek colonization
#1
Hi all
In genetic study by Giacomo et al. AJHG 2004, it is claimed that some haplotypes of haplogroup J2f could be linked to Greek colonization of Magna Graecia, and that the modern population of Southern Italy still carry it in a substantive proportion so as to be largely descendant of greek colonists, anyone knows anything about the subject?

Well I do not know details of these genetic tables.
What I know is that in Calabria there are still Greek speaklng villages.
One of them is called "Kalimera" (Good morning in Greek)
The was an agreement between the Italian and the Greek culture ministers
to preserve the language.

More about Greek spoken in Italy:
