The painted and tattooed Prytani, are said to be descended from the Scythians or Thracians... and I always wondered about that animal they carved on their stones that resembles an elephant........!

Being a college student (and therefore poor), I won't be able to show up in armor, unless as a peltast, but Nashville's right down the road and I would definitely come to watch if/when Nashville happens.

I'll probably be able to make it to Cambridge (if you guys accept a Mycenaean warrior!). Smile

Hi, chaps and chapesses,

We have provisional agreement from a local landowner to host the event in Cambridgeshire on the 4th/5th of August. Please confirm/re-confirm your interest. Mark, I'm particularly concerned that this might clash with your wedding plans!

Please pass this information on via any other Forums, chat-groups etc. of which you are members - we wouldn't want anyone to miss out!

Marshal, I hope you may make it to England. As regards Nashville, the event there is more likely to take place the more people ask the Museum about it. They have a website for the Parthenon re-construction, so e-mail them asking whether there is going to be a Greek Festival there. So far, they haven't even deigned to reply to my e-mails, but if they start getting enquiries from lots of people, they will have to take notice.

It's great that so many of you want to come. Ioannis, we will greet Mycenaean warriors with great joy.

Paul (Hadley) you may be able to cadge a lift with Adam, from the Hoplite Association - I'll ask him.

I reiterate; if we want the Nashville event to happen, we need to make it clear there is demand, so write to tehm, especially those of you in the US.
Phil reaney is looking for sponsors for the event, with a view to dealing with the Nashville authorities once he has it. He thinks he may be able to get an airline to subsidise our fares down to $100. This may require some posing in front of aeroplanes and, again, it could be a job for local boys...

I'd really like to come too (having missed the event in June), but there are some problems. First of all the money, being a student and the costs to travel to Cambridge are not that cheap Wink Second, there are two other things planned on that date, so it'll be a hard decision to make Smile

Anyway, I'll try...

Paul,

I won't be able to make it the first weekend in August, because I will be sailing from Virginia to Halifax next summer. Otherwise, I'd be there in a heartbeat (and not losing half my kit in Ireland this time).

Cheers,
Adam

For crying out loud, Adam! Couldn't you just make a little detour?

Have a nice trip. We'll miss you.
