SALVE, HONORVS POPVLVS
I'm with Barkhorn on this one. I think the game was a RELATIVELY fresh breath into the rapidly decaying RTS genre, but it was not enough.
The game is conducted via the slavish Warcraft3-blueprint: Follow the events that take place, and win the battle(s) in each respective mission. Having no ability to devise strategic decisions, only some tactical decisions (poorly at that).
When you have completed the game, the replayability is not up to par with M:TW, not by a longshot. I expect the same replayability from R:TW, except even better - due to the units being less generic between the factions - and the manner in which the strategic map works.
I also think Imperium looks and sounds quite promising. I know it's still a WIP, but it wouldn't hurt to spiff up the graphics on the windows'y strategic map
But if the gameplay is good enough, I won't care really.
There was a game about Roman conquest in 1991 called "Centurion: Defender of Rome." Aside from some silly arcade-aspects, it's very very good FOR ITS TIME.
It is a "multi level strategy game". Which means it's divided into turnbased strategy and realtime battles.
