A gentle ribbing is ok now and again though, but we shouldn't pile on the kid.

Woady, don't let those guys beat your enthusiasm out of you! Still, it's better to read a bit more. I am convinced that you will like Suetonius' Lives of the Twelve Emperors. I promise that you will like it. There's an online edition at LacusCurtius, but I think you will prefer a paperback, e.g. the Penguin. It will answer many questions.
