E41st Mashup
#1
You have perhaps heard of AJAX (the programming language) and a term called 'mashup' that means combining web applications? This one, in beta and called 'E41st" is a real interesting combination of library and Amazon bookstore. The fellow is just getting started, but try searching for Rome, and making up a bookshelf for yourself:

Readers of /. and boingboing will probably tell you that 'mashup' has already mutated into a more general meaning than just web apps (e.g. 'photoshopping' turning into the near equivalent 'photoshop mashup').

Also it's not strictly a language, more a 'technique'. Like all good ideas, it was first had in a shower.

Personally, my favourite mashup involves potatoes (or 'taters' as my granny used to call them)...
