Honest question,did the Apulians ever actually wear corinthian helmets? Perhaps your friend could add a lot of padding and make it an apulocorinthian

Based on grave findings we know there was lots of trade and exchange of goods. So the corinthian is not ahistorical.

It depends on the period. The splendid tomb from Ginosa, dated to the 6th century BC, included both a Corinthian and an Apulo-Corinthian helmet. Other tombs from Lucania include Corinthians, from the same period. HOWEVER, it's anachronistic with the short cuirass shown in the photos, which dates to the 4th century BC. The arm-guard is also earlier, and as far as I know, restricted to central Italy. Full length greaves are not unknown, but for Apulia the more typical type is the short calf-guard.

There is absolutely no evidence that the Romans ever wore the bronze "Samnite" belt. The helmet is about a century too early, the cuirass about a century too late for a 5th century impression. It does look cool, though. 8)
