new plastic romans for 2003
#1
I have just seen the new Zevda and Italeri catalogs. Zevda will release a set of 1st century AD Praetorian guards, which based on their latest offerings will probably be the best set of plastic 1/72 Romans ever produced. They have also released several new sets of 'undead' skeletonized Romans in their fantasy range.
Their Greek ship is out and the Roman one will come this year. The box art depicts it with a Corvus, so it will not merely be a restrike of an existing model such as Academy or Heller.

Italeri will release a set of Gladiators.
Zvezda also has a website, and there is a seperate site for their simple gaming rules, Age of Battles. Now I have to find an English version, because my Russian is NOT up to translating the rules. The fort model is nice, anyone going to want a couple of hundred painted Greeks and Persians?
I just got some Roman figures from Orion (Ukraine), 1/72 plastic naval types. They come with rowing figures, a drummer for the beat, a helmsman, a greek fire thrower as well as a naval officer and some guys working the rigging.
hm.spb.ru They also make gladiators, as someone mentioned earlier.
"Just before class started, I looked in the big book where all the world's history is written, and it said...."
