Quote:i saw a picture of a renacot close up of him in a battle position with his scutum held forward, and gladius poised, i think his name was titus, i dont know where that picture is , but i think that the armor he wears is in the condition (i think ) of what an actual romans armor would have looked like.
does anybody know what im talking bout?
that titus person is a memeber of this board

Hi Francis, I posted the link to that picture for you. The stuff he wore was stuff from Daniel Peterson. I saw some pictures from the loaner gear he brought to Lafe this year. Very impressive! All that stuff was pretty worn and had some rust spots.

Certainly your suggestion for #13 makes sense Francis although I'd say it is just a facet of #5- since life was rather more precarious for them, and death more commonplace, just as the Spectacles in the arena weren't considered immoral as we might consider them, killing barbarians and conquering people wasn't considered immoral.

I would, just for the sake of correctness, point out that this is getting completely off-topic- the differences between modern people and the Romans isn't exactly relevant to reenactor videos, now is it? I know people have bugged you about starting so many threads at once Francis, but in this case I'd say you have leave to begin one more for this particular subject if you wish to pursue it. Please do mention in your initial post that you were asked to do it though so those who haven't read this posting won't deride you for 'doing it again'.

No problem Francis. Here's the link again (I posted it in one of your first posts).

These foto's are on the first page of the "show your roman soldier's expression".

I thought as much- well go ahead, it's okay Big Grin We won't delete this thread though as it's still full of great video, I just wanted to push it back on-track and expect that future postings will be on-topic.

I'll answer your question about the authenticity of the condition of this Titus fellow's gear in your new thread so as not to drag the off-topic stuff on.
